A closer look at uberAIR, a ridesharing network for the sky
Uber’s Elevate program is creating urban aerial ridesharing, globally. Starting in 2023, Uber customers will be able to push a button and get a flight on-demand.
Cities with a greater metropolitan area population in excess of 2 million people and a density of over 2,000 people per square mile will be able to support pooled services.
We’ve been thrilled by the inbound interest from the international community, and we’ve now formalized a process to submit an Express of Interest whereby cities can engage with Uber directly and articulate their views on how uberAIR can positively impact their market and how they can help in launching and scaling the service.
“Everything is changing, but remember it’s changing within the construct that we’ve built, that we know,” Elwell said in a conversation with Uber Chief Product Officer Jeff Holden.
Uber has revealed new details about its planned air taxi program and unveiled a prototype of the futuristic-looking electric aircraft that soon could be whisking passengers over traffic-clogged streets to their destinations.
